"This is a 2 start hotel - please don't book it expecting 5 star amenities! Seems to be what some people are doing.

Room was clean, a bit on the small side, but we had 2 double beds. Three people were comfortable. Decor is a bit dated but typical of a 2 star hotel. The hotel has a pool and fitness area, and sauna. Also, there is a restaurant and a bar right off the lobby. A subway, pizza place, and Chinese restaurant were 2 blocks away- we walked. Victoria downtown would probably be a 20 minute walk, so best done by car or bus.

Overall, great value for your money! Staying right downtown can be convenient but noisy. This is a quiet area of town, and the room rates reflect the location. Good value for your dollar.

POSITIVE NOTE: SUPER COMFY BEDS. Really, better sleep here than at a lot of higher end hotels! They were very soft and comfy. Not too soft, Just right. I felt like Goldilocks.

Complaints: Room walls were a bit thin. Didn't bother us till about 8 am, when people started checking out. Not the hotels fault- young children were banging on doors as they went by. We were on third floor near elevator- as for a room down the hall if this concerns you.

Other than that, nothing! HOT showers, good pool, would definitely stay here again. Again- this IS a 2 star hotel! Amenities aren' great, and don't expect the empress decor...but starr were AMAZING! They offered us a free room upgrade, were very polite, offered directions around town, etc. Lovely hotel."

"Stayed at hotel with our sons hockey teaM. It was clean and the rooms were huge, some of us had kitchens too!

I personally like how quiet it was and outside our window was a nature trail- no cars - no kids!

My wife is usually very finicky and even she was happy!

Best of all my sons team won the tournament"

"We had a group of 25 girls and stayed at Howard Johnson Hotel City Centre Victoria.

We had a problem with our luggage and I was shocked at how much time and effort the front desk put in to help us located our luggage. Not only they did evething possible to help us all out.

The staff really did care we were not just a Hotel guest, we were people and I was so impressed.

The Hotel had a pool, fitness room and restaurant so we were able to relax until our bags arrived. If it was not for the Staff and Hotel facilties it could of been a nightmare

Thanks to the staff it turned out to be a great trip."

"We just returned from Victoria/Vancouver yesterday and had a fantastic time. We booked through the "Tourism Victoria" website and got a rates of CAD$49/night, which was a great deal. After checking in, the front desk clerk was happy to suggest options for whale-watching companies, and even booked one on our behalf (getting us a better deal). The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Our room was clean and had all the amenities we needed (TV, phone, wireless internet, A/C, etc). It was nothing fancy but more than satisfactory. It was also very close to downtown area. Our only disappointment was the A/C was a wall-mounted unit, which was noisy when running at night. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel."

"We just returned from visiting Victoria BC. We never reserved a room and once we were on the ferry we decided to call Howard Johnson Hotel City Centre, it was a reasonable rates

Upon arrival I was surprised to see it was not on the Inner Harbour, but it was not too far. My wife and I decided to walk and it was a verl lovely walk, a little longer thahn expected but very nice

The room was very clean and very big. There staff was very friendly and helpful in telling us where we can go see the sights. I was quite pleased with this Hotel and price was perfect. It was not a 5 star Hotel, but for a budget Hotel it certainly is well priced for what we got"

"A much need getaway, my husband on short notice decided to getaway and stay at the Howard Johnson on their lovers Package. From the time we checked in it was wonderful,. The in room gift basket left nothing to the imagine ad then in the morning we were served breakfast in bed

I recommend this to anyone who needs top re-ignite their love life!"
